Pork Shoulder (Perfect for Carnitas + Pulled Pork)
The shoulder is usually made into smoked hams, but fresh shoulder makes for very juicy barbecued pulled pork. Southerners like to use this fatty cut to make barbecued pulled pork. This is also a good, economical cut to get if you want to make ground pork, kabobs, or stir-fry strips.
All of our pork products come from Primal Pastures in Temecula, CA or Clear Creek Farms in Spalding, Nebraska. They are raised free range, outside, and given no antibiotics or hormones. They eat a natural omnivore diet of local and seasonal fruits, nuts, vegetables, and certified organic, soy/GMO free grains. This is far and away the best hog in Southern California.
Love making BBQ pork sandwiches with the Pork Shoulder with a side of cole slaw.
I made carnitas using the pork shoulder. It was super tender and flavorful. Perfect amount of fat for it to crisp. Definitely will order again!
It was the first time I ordered the pork shoulder and I slow roasted it (4 hours) for carnitas tacos. The flavour was really good and a 3.5lb joint fed a family of four. Would definitely order again.
For the price, it would have been nice to have more meat and less fat on it. Flavor was great! Just would have liked more meat!
I have ordered this pork shoulder several times now and it is delicious! I love making carnitas with it!
