Primal Hog Picnic (Shoulder) Roast Bone-In
A Picnic Roast comes from the lower part of the pig's shoulder. It's usually made into smoked hams, but fresh picnic shoulder makes for very juicy barbecued pulled pork. Southerners like to use this fatty, bony cut to make barbecued pulled pork. This is also a good, economical cut to get if you want to make ground pork, kabobs, or stir-fry strips.
All of our pork products come from Primal Pastures in Temecula, CA or San Luis Obispo, or California Kurubota in Hollister, CA. They are raised free range, outside, and given no antibiotics or hormones. They eat a natural omnivore diet of local and seasonal fruits, nuts, vegetables, and certified organic, soy/GMO free grains.
