Wild-Caught
With its mild flavor, smooth texture and large flakes, California Halibut is delicious to eat and it's an easy, versatile fish to prepare. More importantly, it is a deep sea, non-oily fish, which makes it extremely low-fat, but high in protein and Omega-3’s; not to mention, good for your heart. Don't miss out on this LIMITED catch!

All of our seafood products are sourced from the Pacific Ocean directly off California shores.  We carry only the highest quality and healthiest seafood available from boats that use sustainable practices that allow for the regeneration of our ocean's life.  All fish is wild caught, never farmed, and processed in certified facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety. The fish is flash frozen and sold in filets.

All orders ship frozen with dry ice and insulated packaging to arrive in perfect condition. We ship Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend delays. Orders placed after Wednesday will ship the following week.

Our seafood meets a standard that most fish counters can't touch. Line-caught from wild waters. No "previously frozen" fine print. Processed and flash-frozen at peak freshness with nothing added and nothing hidden.

As a PA, I started this farm because I couldn't find meat I trusted for my own family. This is it, raised the way I was looking for all those years ago

Why It's Different

Line-caught. Wild-caught.
Traceable to the fisher.

01

Line-Caught. No Nets.

Line-caught is a higher standard than wild-caught and it's worth knowing the difference. Instead of trawl nets that scour the seafloor or purse seines that haul hundreds of fish at once, line-caught means one hook, one fish, one at a time. Less bycatch, less habitat damage, and fish that are handled better from the moment they leave the water. That shows up in the quality on your plate.

Primal: line-caught, traceable to fisher, handled individually
Conventional: trawl nets, bycatch, habitat destruction, unknown origin
02

Wild from the Pacific Ocean. (Not a Fish Farm.)

Our fish comes from the Quinault Nation in Washington State or our independent fishmonger, Jackamo, off the west coast waters. This is a far cry from industrial fishing. We only work with fisherman and fisheries that have a genuine stake in the long-term health of the water, the fish, and the ecosystem.

Primal: small-scale fisherman, caught by hand off the pacific coast.
Conventional: farmed fish, open-net pens, imported and unlabeled
03

No Farms. No Dyes. No Compromises.

Farmed fish is fed artificial pigments to turn its flesh the color consumers expect. Wild fish earns that color by eating krill and living in the ocean. Our seafood is never farmed, never dyed, and never treated with antibiotics or preservatives. What you get is exactly what came out of the water

Primal: wild-caught, natural color, no dyes or antibiotics
Conventional: farmed, artificially colored, antibiotic-treated, flavor-compromised

LINE-CAUGHT. WILD-CAUGHT. ALWAYS.

Seafood from people who have a real relationship with the water.

Most seafood at the grocery store is either farmed in open-net pens or caught with trawl nets that drag the ocean floor. Line-caught means one hook, one fish, handled with care from the moment it leaves the water. No dyes, no antibiotics, no farms. Just clean, wild seafood from people who know exactly where it came from — because they caught it themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Line-caught means the fish was caught one at a time using a hook and line — not dragged up in a trawl net with hundreds of other fish. It's a more selective method that causes less habitat damage, produces less bycatch (the unintended capture of other marine life), and results in better-handled, higher-quality fish. It's a more specific standard than "wild-caught," and it's the standard we hold our seafood to.

  • Yes — all of it. Farmed fish (most commonly Atlantic salmon) are raised in open-net ocean pens, fed processed feed, treated with antibiotics, and given artificial pigments to replicate the pink color that wild fish develop naturally from their diet. Wild fish live in the ocean, eat what they're built to eat, and develop their flavor, color, and nutrient profile the way nature intended. The difference in taste, fat profile, and nutritional value is significant.

  • All orders with meat or cold items are packed in boxes with recyclable insulated liners, as well as dry ice. We calculate the dry ice needs for each individual address to ensure you receive your meat perfectly frozen.

It is very common for the dry ice in your package to have dissipated by the time it arrives to you. As long as the meat is still cold to the touch, the products have not been compromised.

  • All orders received are processed immediately and will be packaged and shipped at the earliest convenience.

If you would like to cancel your order or combine multiple orders, please contact reach out to info@primalpastures.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate you to the best of our ability.

If the order has already been processed and packaged, changes may not be possible.

P.O. box addresses are not accepted.

We are not responsible for incorrect addresses or mistakes entered in shipping details. Any shipping instructions should be entered into the ‘note to seller’ section at checkout (NOT in the address section). We will forward shipping instructions onto FedEx, however, we cannot guarantee drivers will follow instructions.

We have chosen to trust FedEx to deliver all orders. You will receive three confirmations: an order confirmation immediately upon purchase, a confirmation when your order is being packed and a confirmation when your order has been picked up by FedEx. All packages will be left without a signature and can be delivered as late as 8pm.

  • Due to order volume and changing inventory, we are unable to hold shipments. Of course, if there is an emergency please reach out to info@primalpastures.com and we will do our best to help.

  • Never. Farmed salmon is routinely given synthetic astaxanthin — a pigment added to feed to color the flesh pink. Our wild salmon develops that color naturally from its diet in the ocean. No dyes, no artificial color, no preservatives, no additives of any kind.
