Tell me about the pigs.
All of our pork products come from Clear Creek Farms in Spalding, Nebraska. They are pasture raised and given no antibiotics or hormones. They eat a natural omnivore diet of certified organic, local and seasonal fruits, nuts, vegetables, soy free, GMO free grains and barley that has been soaked and sprouted in whey. This by far the best hog available.
How much does it cost?
$14.00 a pound.
What exactly am I getting?
The amount of pounds per cut you get will vary depending on the size of the hog. Below you will see all the cuts that come with your hog and sample amounts. Small hogs you will get the lowest amount, medium hogs somewhere in the middle, and large hogs will be on the high side of the sample quantities below.
- Bacon 3lbs-10lbs
- pork sausage 4lbs-6lbs
- fresh ground pork 4lbs-6lbs
- links 5lbs-8lbs
- Fresh brats 4lbs-6lbs
- Bone in pork chop 9-11 packs (2 chops per pack)
- pork shoulder 2-4
- Fresh hock 1 each
- spare ribs 2 each
- Ham roast 1 each
- Lard 5lbs-20lbs
But will it fit in my freezer?
That's the most common question I get. As a general rule of thumb you should plan for 35lbs meat per cubic foot of freezer space. A standard kitchen fridge/freezer combo is around 7 cubic feet of freezer space - meaning that if it were totally empty (yeah right) then you could fit 245lbs of meat in there (more than a whole share). If you're like most people and don't have much space in the freezer, what you want to do is invest in a deep freezer. They are cheap and unlock this world of potential for you to have years of savings through bulk meat purchasing. You can even find them super cheap on craigslist all the time. Like I said, even if you're just buying a quarter share - the deep freezer pays for it on the first purchase! For a whole hog, I would recommend just getting the 7 cubic foot model.
