Why It's Different
Most "grass-fed" beef is still grain-finished in feedlots. Ours isn't.

What Is Grass-Fed Beef Tallow?
Beef tallow is rendered beef fat, specifically the hard fat (suet) surrounding the kidneys and loins of cattle, that is slowly cooked down until pure, shelf-stable cooking fat remains. Grass-fed beef tallow comes from cattle raised exclusively on pasture and natural forage, never finished on grain or corn. This distinction matters nutritionally: grass-fed and grass-finished cattle produce tallow with a higher concentration of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), more fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K), and a cleaner omega-6 to omega-3 ratio than tallow from conventionally raised, grain-finished animals. Primal Pastures grass-fed beef tallow is rendered from 100% California-raised, pasture-raised, corn-free, soy-free cattle, minimally processed and packaged in a 14 oz glass jar to preserve its natural nutritional profile.
Unlike mass-produced alternatives that cut corners, our tallow is the only option held to the complete Primal Standard: 100% pasture-raised corn-free and soy-free cattle grazing on natural forage.
While other brands might claim "grass-fed" but still finish with grain, our cattle are exclusively grass-fed AND grass-finished from birth to harvest, creating a nutrient profile conventional beef just can't match.
Our tallow has superior smoke point performance and a clean, neutral flavor that families love. Perfect for frying, sautéing, and even baking. Our tallow undergoes minimal processing to preserve its natural nutritional profile and flavor.

As a PA, I started this farm because I couldn't find meat I trusted for my own family. This is it, raised the way I was looking for all those years ago

Why It's Different
Most "grass-fed" beef is still grain-finished in feedlots. Ours isn't.
Our cattle graze on open pasture from birth to harvest — no feedlots, no grain finishing, no exceptions. A lifetime on grass means richer flavor, better fat profiles, and beef that actually earns the label.
Healthy animals raised the right way don't need pharmaceutical interventions. Our cattle are never given antibiotics, hormones, or steroids — not once, not ever. Because that's what "clean" actually means.
Our cattle graze on land free from chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Healthy soil grows healthy grass. Healthy grass raises healthy beef. We believe less inputs = better outputs.
Beef raised right.
Our cattle spend their entire lives on open pasture: no feedlots, no grain finishing, no corn, no soy. Ever. A lifetime on grass means beef with better fat profiles, richer flavor, and a nutrient density you can actually taste.
The Primal Difference
| Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished (Primal Pastures) | Conventional Grain-Fed | |
|---|---|---|
| Diet | 100% pasture forage, natural grass from birth to harvest | Grain and corn-finished, often in feedlots |
| Omega-6 to Omega-3 Ratio | More balanced ratio due to grass diet | Higher omega-6 ratio from grain feeding |
| CLA Content | Higher conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) | Lower CLA content |
| Fat-Soluble Vitamins | Higher levels of vitamins A, D, E, and K | Lower levels from reduced pasture grazing |
| Additives | Corn-free, soy-free, no antibiotics, no hormones | May include GMO feed, hormones, or antibiotics |
| Processing | Minimally processed, shelf-stable in glass jar | Varies; often heavily refined |
| Flavor | Clean, neutral, rich beef flavor | Can carry off-flavors from grain diet |
