Prior to the 1950’s, butchers would often use the tri-tip for stew meat or ground hamburger before it finally took its place in the butchers’ case after becoming popular in the Santa Maria Valley.

Tri-tip is a flavorful, lean cut that is perfect for braising, smoking, grilling or roasting. Slice it like a steak or chop it up to throw in your chili. Just remember, when cutting your tri-tip, make sure you cut across the grain (which changes direction throughout the cut), which will ensure you get a nice tender bite each time.

We have partnered with two ranches in Oregon and Arizona to bring you the highest quality beef. To us, that means cattle that is raised on pasture their entire lives and are always grass fed and grass finished. There is no supplemental feed, antibiotics, or growth hormones ever used.

Great flavor.

I bought this Tri Tip for my husband’s birthday. He prepared it in our smoker and it turned out tender with so much flavor.

Beef Tri Tip Outstanding

Family and guests raved about it. Rubbed with EVOO flavored with garlic, rosemary, red pepper flakes then Montreal season then in frig for several hours. Taken out for one hour or so. Pan Seared 3 minutes a side then in oven 400 degrees about 20 mins to about 130 degrees (recipe I found had said 125) but that was a bit to low for me. Came out beautifully rare in middle medium rare closer to edges. Able to reheat slightly for a few minutes and maintained most of its rareness. Absolutely fantastic cut of beef.

Great flavor, but…

The flavor itself is excellent, but the meat is tough, even after tenderizing and comparing it to other farms’ tri-tips.

Tri-Tip

One of the best! Moist and tender and just enough fat to add great flavor.
