Est. 2012 — Murrieta, California

We started with 50 chickens and an honest question...

What does it actually take to raise food the right way? Fourteen years later, we're still asking — and answering it with every package that leaves our farms.

A note from rob

You are what
you eat, eats.

Our story starts where most good things do...in the backyard. It was 2012, Southern California, fifty chickens, and an honest question: what does it actually take to raise food the right way?

As a physician assistant and father of four, I'd seen firsthand how much food choices matter - how they can heal or harm, energize or deplete. So I went deep into regenerative farming, ancestral practices, and the kind of land stewardship that restores instead of depletes. I learned from backyard legends, made plenty of mistakes, and slowly built a standard I could stand behind.

That standard has one simple test: does it benefit the whole? The animals, the land, and the families sitting down to eat it.

Today, with a family of farms and a team that cares as much as I do, Primal Pastures is the source for the cleanest pasture-raised meat in the country. I started this in a backyard. I'm proud of how far that dream has traveled.

THE PRIMAL STANDARD

Most "organic" doesn't meet our standard.

Certified organic sets a baseline. We go further — restoring soil, protecting water, raising animals the way nature designed them to be raised.

Grass-Fed & Finished

Never corn, soy, or grain — start to finish. Beef and lamb that spent their whole lives on pasture.

Corn-Free

Zero corn across every animal we raise.

Soy Free

Soy quietly hides in nearly every supermarket meat as a cheap food source for animals. We've been soy-free since day one.

Farming practices that restore soil health, water, and biodiversity. We leave the land better than we found it.

Nutritious & Humane

Stress-free animals on pasture produce more nutrient-dense meat, we have the third party lab testing to prove it.

No feedlots, no confinement, so animals can do what they were designed to do: graze.

Your questions, answered.

The questions we get most.

  • Every animal we raise lives outdoors on chemical-free pasture, every day of its life. No barns, no feedlots, no concrete pads with a door. The chickens follow a mobile coop to fresh grass daily; the cattle and lambs graze open range; the pigs roam 1,300 acres in Nebraska.

  • Yes, every product is processed at small, regional, USDA-inspected facilities. We deliberately avoid the industrial plants that handle 1,300+ animals an hour. Our partners run at human pace, with human attention.

  • Because it costs more to raise an animal the right way: slower, on pasture, without corn or soy fillers, with skilled human labor. We pay our farmers a fair price and ship in small, climate-controlled batches. You're paying the true cost of real food, not a subsidized one.

  • Everything is flash-frozen at peak freshness and shipped in recyclable, insulated boxes with dry ice. We ship to all 50 states.
